“Best Networking Advice I Ever Got”
– 21 MAD//Fest interviews
Trailer for "Best Networking Advice I Ever Got", a set of short interviews on networking when it makes you anxious.
If walking into a room full of strangers turns your stomach, start here.
You're brilliant at your job. You've read the books, watched the talks. Yet you still can't make yourself walk up to a group of people at an event.
Your finger hovers over the "buy ticket" button.
You find any excuse possible to justify bailing on the mixer you're supposed to be going to tonight.
You sit at the back of the room debating whether to or not to flee the moment the panel finishes
Sound familiar? If yes, you're in the right place.
This summer I asked 30 people at MAD//Fest for the best networking advice they'd ever had. 21 of them agreed to go on camera and generously share their experience.
Their advice is warm, true, and – if you're the person frozen in the doorway – almost impossible to action.
That gap is the whole reason my in-person networking workshops exist.
Almost everyone I asked said a version of the same thing: relax, be yourself, it's just a conversation.
They're right. But "just relax" is not a technique – it's the thing you can't do yet. Knowing has never been the block for you.
Doing it, in the room, on the night, is. You don't get past that by understanding it better. You get past it by practising it, on purpose, in a place that's built for it.
That's what I run.
Watch the videos because they’re full of great advice. Put their advice into practice if you can. And if you’re not yet ready, let’s talk.
